“Today” by Tom Scott sampled by peter rock and CL smooth for They.Reminisce.Over.You (trouble T-Roy) which is deep cuz riley was reminiscing over his grandmother.

I can’t believe no one else got the art teacher reference. The art teacher is Bob Ross. He was the guy on PBS who had the afro and painted all the happy clouds and trees…
hmmm… youtube seems to be filled with imitators and no actual original footage, but here’s his website:

This episode will never be recognized as one of the most well-written episodes in TV history. The Bob Ross reference/tribute, the entire chase scene where Tom Scott’s “Today” plays in the background is absolute brilliance. Equally brilliant was the choice to use the original song, as opposed to Pete Rock and CL Smooth’s hip-hop masterpiece. In just a few moments, Aaron Magruder used a well-recognized melody and educated millions of hip-hop fans while simultaneously evoking an emotional response. I’m sure everyone who watched this began to think of someone who’s no longer with them and found themselves holding back a tear. I’ve never seen a cartoon do this before. Bravo.
