I must be one of the few people who did not like this episode. Not that I didn’t think it was at least a little funny, but I could not stand how poor Tom got dissed. Sarah all but completely ignored Tom and was all in Usher’s face as though her own husband was nowhere near them. I’m sorry, but if the roles were reversed, Tom would be viewed as a total bastard. When he speaks his mind about how his wife treated him at their dinner and she brushes it off as him being insecure. She even takes offense and throws him out of their house when he puts his foot down about the situation. To make matters worse, Tom’s own daughter is looking forward to Usher being her new daddy. Wasn’t it just last season when she was bawling her eyes out when she thought her father was kidnapped by terrorists? What in the world happened to THAT wonderful father-daughter relationship? And just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, Granddad brings in A Pimp Named Slickback to help Tom out. His appearance was funny, I got a chuckle out of his antics, but there was no point to him being around. Not only did Tom get beat out of $2500, but he got the living crap beat out of him by Usher and his bodyguards when he confronted his wife yet again. His poor attempt at getting forceful will not help the marriage, either. By the way, Jazmine’s dad is getting beaten to death, and she’s crying for Usher’s forgiveness? What a loving daughter!
Forgive me for my pointless ranting. I’ll try to get to the point of it all. Sarah is clearly not happy with Tom or their marriage, and that is a problem that needs to be solved. She DOES have reason to be unhappy, or bored. Knowing what a wimp of a man Tom is (and he IS a f@%$#ing wimp), it’s understandable. But no one, not man nor woman, should have to suffer like Tom is. It’s not cool at all.
Maybe I’m taking all this way too seriously. I mean, it is just a show, and the characters aren’t real. But I love this show! I get anxious and excited every week to see the newest episode. After watching this episode, I couldn’t help but feel like I’ve been cheated. It should not have ended the way it did, and I will be outraged if the rest of the season goes on like nothing happened.

I agree with Black Templar so much. Tom needs to be a man though.
If I was Tom, I’d kill myself.
SPOILER: Due to Tom’s ub3r depression, his body is possessed by Colonel Stinkmeaner.

Nig(Black Templar)ga Hush. jp
You ARE taking it too seriously. I would agree, not their best work but seems to me that Tom did indeed have the symptoms of one suffering from BDS. If you want to focus on your perceived negativity about the shows lack of family values, then that’s your misguided right. Feel free but I enjoyed watching Sweetest Taboo in rare form.
Great Episode

I feel Black Templar on some of his points. See, this is why I love this show. This satirical series allows folks to deeply discuss some of these issues freely. Now, we all know people who suffer from BDS; whether it be a man or a woman. Tom needed to stand up for himself and show his wife shit ain’t right. I kinda liked the ending. It shows that not everything works out in the good man or woman’s favor.Sometimes in real life, you get your ass beat literally and/or emotionally after asserting yourself. But I do agree with Black Templer that if the series continues on as if nothing happened, I will be a lil disappointed as well. Good episode. Peace.

Whats the song at the end when he’s gettin the daylights beat out of him?
November 13th, 2007 at 2:20 am
i read black templar’s comment and i feel him on this. Most episodes of the boondocks generally lead to a point. with few exceptions(Let’s Nab Oprah, and Tom,Sarah, and Usher)
I know the creator isn’t trying to make a deep point in contrast to the comic, but he still mostly does. well maybe im just over exaggerating because this episode may be just for humor only or the issue (tom being a biggity bitch)might be picked up on later in the season again.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:54 am
My two cents:
The point of the show is that TOM needs to man up! Sarah didn’t deny Usher until Tom did something. Ultimately, he needs to stop being a b1tch. Like most men in society now. Stop giving b1tches money. What did they do to deserve it? If you are in this situation where you give girls things for nothing, cry all the time, talk about your fear of being beaten… It’s like shut the hell up. Do you know why feminism is growing and women are trying to be better than men? It’s because too many men are like TOM. I would have told Usher to get his “let it burn” a$$ out of me and my wifes business. Or he would find a foot in his a$$. If he started talkin more shyt. I would slap a hoe. I don’t care about his entourage. There WAS a big point made about this show. Stand up for yourself from the beginning.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:55 am
That’s right, I would slap a hoe.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:19 pm

Poor Tom
November 17th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
The bitch dependacy syndrome, so damn true.
November 17th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
@ Black Templar
Damn, it isn’t Oprah we’re looking at. The catch of this show is that it’s making its point by being controversial, rough and sometimes seemingly wrong, not by sweet-talking everything.
For me this episode is about not understanding each other in a relationship and how that can lead to pretty awkward situations. A pimp named Slick Back learns Tom to be ” a man”, resulting in him slapping his wife and being beaten up by the bodyguards of Usher. And all that happened was Sarah just making an appointment for their daughter to meet Usher. If Tom had listened to his wife, spoke to her about his feelings, his fears, none of this would have happened. And maybe they could’ve spiced up their relationship in an earlier stage.

December 13th, 2007 at 12:59 am
I think all over the world Black men are used, morally demeaned and put down. By White Women AND the system, who is majority white stil. This episode shows me the meaning of the Black man is lost somehow. Even Black women sometimes dont see the true power that lies within a Black man. Believe, If tom had a Nubian like me, he would no what time it is…Straight

Yes the situation between Tom and Sarah must be fixed. But the fact of the matter is there is no communication from Sarah to begin with. All those times that she was unhappy, that was when she should have spoke up. Yes Tom is a wuss, but he loves his wife completely so much so that if she asked him, then he would do anything to change. Both have their bad points but Sarah is the worst.
Why? 1. communication, she never spoke to Tom execpt about daily chores like picking Jasmine up from school. 2. She is married, she should not have been flirting with usher or even speaking to him behind Tom’s back.
Still it was funny to hear Usher scream
December 16th, 2007 at 12:24 am
A Pimp Named Slickback is the funniest part of this ep for me. He’s tall too… heeheeheeeeeee!!

December 26th, 2007 at 8:35 pm
That Usher video was the funniest thing in the whole episode. Tom just can’t sing. But,
I have to agree, this probably wasn’t the best episode ever.

sarah’s a crappy wife if she gets bored that easily and gives her husband that little respect. Slickback needs to be fucking shot though. That is one evil sexist SOB if ever there was one.

This episode can be seen as pure comedy, nothing more.
Furthermore, stop propagating violence against women!
January 27th, 2008 at 5:08 am
