Honestly, the “stop snitching” crap has to stop. If there’s a serious crime, you should inform the police. That’s why we have black kids in the ghetto keep on stealing. We have to be harsh in order to stop this crap.

this episode was a bit off… Season 2 doesn’t flow like season 1 did. In season 1 Huey always told stories and wrapped the episode up with a monolouge that made you think. This episode was all over the place.

Classic. I disagree though Bazja. The morale of the story is that whether it’s not “snitching” or anything else that makes people think your cool, it’s all good and well andtil something happens to you or directly effects you. See, the whole car thing didn’t really effect him so he went ahead and tried tpo be “cool” and refused to help the police. In the end, you can see him tearing because he got his bike stolen. That directly effects him and he got mad and, from what I saw, almost started crying.

Everybody is missing the point here, which is basically this. As a black person, when it comes to snitching you’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. You can’t really win. All episodes of the show are set in the suburbs, obviously(hence the show’s name), so while the pro-snitching arguments are effectively put out there, the arguments for the stop snitching side are not. Inadequate protection of informants was thrown out there, but in a very comical way which took the seriousness out of the situation. But still, imagine being a victim and then having to go to jail after that. Literally insult added to injury. Or should I say injury piled upon injury(jail is serious shit, no matter how many rappers try to make it sound cool). Also ask yourself if you would want to talk to police in the future after having gone thru that. How about the fact that the informant system encourages lying by promising reduced sentences to snitches accused of crime? How about the fact that cops shoot and kill innocent black men pretty much daily? What if one of those people was someone you knew and loved? Would you still talk to police after that? What if as a black person you decided that since cops like to do your people dirty, you don’t want to speak to them, just as a matter of principle? Would you be wrong for that? No one puts these arguments out there.

When I was little I was such a tattle tale I’m proud to say I have learned from the beating I got from a few guys I ratted on, otherwise I may never have stopped. I admire Riley for his resiliance, especially at his age.
Though I don’t know whether I could snitch on a friend at all, for whatever reason, I would certainly not judge someone for calling the police if there’s a murder a drug operation, or some sick gang thing was going on. Snitching on those instances is fine by me.
If some stuff got stolen, vandalized, someone got beaten up, or something of a lesser crime like that happened, people should just shut their mouths and resolve it themselves.
